One of the place in Kerala with this natural beauty is in a district of the state known as Wayanad which has the famous for the Chembra Peak. It is the highest peak in Wayanad at an elevation of 2,050m above the sea level. Wayanad is home to a numerous endangered species including Tiger and Elephants. The District stands at the southern tip of the Deccan plateau and includes part of the Western Ghats.

The Chembra peak is located at a distance of 13km from Meppadi Town. After a drive of 10km from Meppadi town, we reach the ticket counter which is the starting point of the trek. The trek is roughly 3.5km (one side). Although the distance is not much but climbing to the peak has some difficult routes and therefore it comes in the category of moderate treks. A trekker would love the stunning beauty of the place and this is the reason it is one of the most famous treks in South India. Although now the trek to the highest point of the peak is restricted and one can only go till the Heart shaped lake but the scene from here is also soothing to the eyes. Permission from the forest office is required for trekking to the Chembra Peak. The Chembra Peak Trek is a delight for every trekker and the view from the highest peak of Wayanad is an amazing experience for everyone who is bitten by the travel bug and has an immense love for the mother nature and for trekking and traveling.
